How are you disrupting the market?

Uncategorized Sep 08, 2019

Happy Sunday to you!

I hope you enjoyed my last newsletter. It was the first time in quite a while that I've reached out in the form of a newsletter, or in my case, a reflection. I got a lot of feedback. Everyone was excited to receive the message! So, thank you for reading and for sending me your feedback. I do truly appreciate you!

I have a question for you.

How are you disrupting the market?

As a business owner, it's important that you do something just a little bit different than others as a way to attract and keep your clients. Disruptions can be overt or subtle, loud or silent. It does not matter which method you choose, you just need to choose.

To the contrary, what I see happening a lot is, small business owners are spending far too much time watching their peers and implementing processes and approaches that simply mimic the next. But if you are imitating others, how are you standing out? What actually makes you different? Why should someone buy from you when there are hundreds of others doing the exact same things as you?

Yesterday, I had the phenomenal opportunity to see a disruptor in action.

That's Coach K, and yes, she is a football coach. As a matter of fact, she is the only female on the coaching staff. Coach K is a disruptor that's changing how sports in this area views and includes women.

Coach K also happens to be my daughter. As you can imagine, it was a very proud moment to see my child making history at the first game of the season.

You see, Coach K could have simply watched her peers and did exactly what they did. But guess what? She would not have gotten the job. In fact, she probably would not have applied. Instead, she operated at the beat of her own drum and landed the job of her dreams.

The coaching staff loves her! They love her perspective! They also love the way her presence is throwing others for a loop just simply because she's a girl on the sidelines.

But I have to say, the apple did not fall too far from the tree.

This is a throw back picture from 2013. That's me sitting in the front row.

What's different about this picture?

Well, first, I am one of only two women in the room. Second, I am the only minority. And that my friend, is the story of my life.

I've always been a bit different and never really mainstream. I've always done certain things differently than many and sometimes most. In fact, status quo, regular, and normal are things I've always somewhat rebelled against.

For example, I am not your average CPA. I've never taken the path others in this industry have traditionally taken. I've never focused on auditing. I decided long time ago, tax preparation was not for me. Instead, I focused my entire career on working with small businesses, helping them grow from the inside out.

I've always listened to what others shared with me about what their previous accountants were not doing, and I implemented those things. This made me extremely different from the rest. Now, 22 years in business later, and we are still the only ones in our industry doing certain things for our clients.

We do things like pulling key financial indicators out of the numbers, incorporating strategic alignment sessions with our financial reviews to ensure money and mission are in sync, and coaching clients on all areas of business, not just money. These are just a few of the things we've done unconventionally.

This approach has afforded us the ability to realize long term relationships with our clients, receive referrals from them time and time again, and become highly sought after experts in our industry.

So my friend, if you want to make a million dollars or more in your business....

You've got to be a disruptor!

Tomorrow (Monday, September 9, 2019) at 7:00 pm, I will be presenting my September Million Dollar Masterclass where I will be discussing five strategies to get back on track in this season, achieve your goals and increase your cashflow. The five strategies I will be sharing are million dollar disruptors!

Join me and start creating your disruption in the market.

You can join me in four simple steps:

  1. Go to the registration page.
  2. Download the worksheet that comes via the registration page.
  3. Join the Facebook group.
  4. Show up ready for strategy!

As I end this reflection, I want to leave you with something to ponder.

Is it ok to wear white after Labor Day? Are you at traditionalist who follows what you've been told or what everyone else is doing? Or are you a disruptor, standing out and making waves?

Oh! By the way, we are STILL waiting for Brownie's arrival! This little one is certainly destined to be a disruptor!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!
